Automotive Air Conditioning Check
First on our list is checking your air conditioner. If you have ever had to drive very far in July without a functioning air conditioner here in Las Vegas you know just how important this step is. Turn your air conditioner on as cold as it goes. Does your air feel cool enough? If not you may to add some more refrigerant to your vehicle. You will also want to check your air filters. These are both things that you can do by yourself if you want. Many mechanics offer AC tune-ups at a very reasonable price as well.
Cooling System Flush
The second thing you will want to do is look at your cooling system. You may be looking at this thinking “isn’t that what you just talked about?” We do not mean the air conditioning; we mean the cooling system in your engine. Your cooling system should be completely flushed and refilled about every 24 months. This will help prevent your car from overheating on the side of the road. Check Tire Pressure & Tread
In addition to overheated cars, we also come to help people who had a tire blow out more frequently during the summer months. Your tire pressure fluctuates whenever the temperature changes. Incorrect tire pressure makes your tires wear unevenly and makes your car less fuel-efficient. You can visually check your tire tread as well for tread life, uneven wearing, and cupping. If you notice that your car is pulling to one side when you are driving you may also want to have your tires aligned.
Oil Change
Next on our list is oil changes. Every vehicle that uses oil to run needs to have consistent oil changes in order to function properly. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for how frequently you should have the oil changed in your vehicle. During the hot summer months your vehicle may run through oil faster than normal. As a precaution you will want to keep some extra oil in your trunk just in case.

There are other things that you will also want to check out before the summer weather starts to heat up here in the Las Vegas Valley.
